The Modern Comeback

When the burden becomes almost unbearable, sometimes the bravest act is to stop pretending it's light. Don’t dress up the struggle; just acknowledge it. On top of my daily mental battle, I realized I was piling up too many new projects at once. For the past few months, the pressure has felt relentless with my self-imposed deadlines, expectations, and the constant juggling of responsibilities.

There’s no way around the weight of it. But I choose not to turn away. If you’re struggling, own that. And that decision to stop resisting the weight is sparking another new change in how I think of technology. Simply looking for a way through has initiated my comeback. While I was mindlessly scrolling and feeling isolated, is when I truly understood the decree. We have a rare advantage sitting right in our pockets: a world of collective wisdom. Yet it is often wasted.

It’s no surprise to most that my phone has been a constant source of stress, not support. But now, I consciously choose to change that narrative, letting it be a tool for restoration and focus. Setting limits was critical to staying mindful of my boundaries while seeking genuine connections. I opened a sound frequency app instead of another feed, and used the guided session to help calm the chaos. Then, I used my phone again to find a paper from Marguerite Porete, a French mystic of the thirteenth century. In that simple moment, my device wasn’t dominating me; it was just a resource. I reclaimed my agency, not by ignoring the struggle, but by facing it and deciding how to navigate through it.

Today’s Decree: Technology is my ally, not my master. I choose these tools to restore my peace and sharpen my focus, staying fiercely mindful of my boundaries while I value the connection they provide.
